Urgent Notice: Miscellaneous Consular- Attestation Services will be processed through VFS from 1st August 2025

PRESS RELEASE
 

With immediate effect, all applicants are advised NOT to send their ‘Miscellaneous Consular Applications – Attestation Service Applications’ to the Consulate by postal means.

1. Miscellaneous Consular Services will continue to be available in-person at the Consulate (71 Stevenson Street, Suite 2200, San Francisco, CA 94105) by prior appointment only secured upto 31st July 2025. No walk-ins will be permitted.

2. Transition to VFS Global (Effective August 1, 2025):
With effect from 1st August 2025, all Miscellaneous Consular Services will be handled through the Consulate’s authorized service provider i.e., M/s VFS Global, at the following address: 642 Harrison Street, Suite 200,  San Francisco, CA 94107. 
(Services relating to Registration of death/NOC for transport of mortal remains/ashes and Issue of Life Certificate will continue to be provided at the Consulate). 

3. FOR ENQUIRIES/GRIEVANCES The Consulate will also hold an ‘Open House’ on all working days from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm to address applicant’s enquiries related to Consular services. Please note that entry is STRICTLY BY APPOINMENT. For details, refer to https://www.cgisf.gov.in/page/open-house/

4. IN CASE OF ANY EMERGENCY, applicants can reach out to the Consulate’s EMERGENCY HELPLINE NUMBER: +1 (415) 483-6629. Please note that the facility is reserved for genuine emergencies like emergency travel document, visa in death cases, transportation of mortal remains etc. Applicant should call the emergency number to ascertain pre-requisites of supporting documents for these services and to ensure that they fall in the category of emergency services, which cannot be postponed to the next working day of the Consulate.

5. Please note that services related to Passport, Visa, OCI, Renunciation, GEP, and PCC will continue to be handled through our service provider, M/s VFS Global (https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/).
