Visit of All Party Parliamentary Delegation to USA-05 June

All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Hon’ble Member of Parliament is visiting USA to brief key interlocutors about the threat of terrorism faced by India and India’s strong stand against terrorism.

The delegation led by Dr. Tharoor called on Vice President J.D. Vance today. The constructive and useful discussion resulted in comprehensive exchange on India’s fight against terrorism, advancing counter-terrorism cooperation and enhancing technological cooperation between the two countries. The shared commitment to deepening the India-US strategic partnership was also reaffirmed.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor spoke at the Council on Foreign Relations, a prestigious nonpartisan think-tank in Washington D.C. The discussion was moderated by Ambassador Ken Juster who served as U.S. Ambassador to India. The conversation focused on the horrendous Pahalgam attack and India’s response in form of Operation Sindoor and the new normal created by India in this fight against terrorism. Afterwards the delegation met with members of various think-tanks at the Embassy and engaged in a productive exchange of views about Operation Sindoor as well as the growing multi-faceted partnership between India and Pakistan.

On the Capitol today, members of the delegation held a productive engagement with Senator Andy Kim, member of the Homeland Security Committee. In the meeting the delegation laid out details of the threat of Pakistan sponsored cross-border terrorism faced by India and India’s measured and proportionate response in Operation Sindoor.

The delegation also interacted with Senator Chris Van Hollen, Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and briefed him on the threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, which has affected both India and the United State of America. 

At the close of the day, the delegation engaged in candid conversations with members of the U.S. Congress, U.S. Government, think-tank and intelligentsia as well as members of the American press corps at a reception hosted by the Ambassador. The dialogue conversation focused on strengthening the multi-faceted India-USA partnership. The comprehensive and productive dialogue covered a range of issues of mutual interest including counter-terrorism cooperation.
