Nominations for PravasiBharatiya Samman Awards
(PBSA) - 2027

Nomination process for the PravasiBharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) is now open. PBSA is the highest honour recognising the contribution and achievements of Indian diaspora and is conferred by the President of India during the valedictory session of the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas (PBD) Convention held biennially. The next PBD Convention will be held in January 2027.

PBSA is awarded to a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or an Organization/Institution established and run by a PIO/NRI who has made significant contribution either overseas or in India, in one of the following fields:

For Achievements Abroad

• Better understanding abroad of India;
• Support to India’s causes and concerns in a tangible way;
• Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence;
• Social and humanitarian causes in India or abroad;
• Welfare of the local Indian community;
• Philanthropic and charitable work;
• Eminence in one’s field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India’s prestige in the country of residence; or
• Eminence in skills which has enhanced India’s prestige in that country (for non-professional workers).

For Achievements within India

• Philanthropic investments and charitable work in India;
• For contribution made towards India’s development.
  
  

There is also a system of self-nomination by Disapora members / organisations.  Such individuals/organisations who wish to self nominate can send their competed nomination form directly by email to pbsaward[at]mea[dot]gov[dot]in .

This information is being publicized to invite suitable nominations for PBSA 2027 among Indian Diaspora in the jurisdiction of Consulate General of India, San Francisco. Duly filled in nomination form (attached herewith) along with enclosures can be sent latest by 27 February, 2026 to the Consulate at cca[dot]cgisf[at]mea[dot]gov[dot]in
