Consulate General of India, San Francisco celebrated the 73rd Republic Day by hosting a reception at the historic War Memorial Green Room in the city. The celebration were attended by over 200 guests from various walks of life including elected members, entrepreneurs, Indian Community members, State Department officials etc.

California Lieutenant Governor Amb. Eleni Kounalakis graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Consul General Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad addressed the gathering on the occasion with the significance of Republic Day, India-US relations and Economic opportunities in India. Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis in her address referred to vibrant India’s democracy and her visit to India. Prof. Arogyaswami Paulraj, inventor of MIMO (5G) said that India is poised to grow in Semi Conductor space. The legendary Tabla Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain compared India to a perfect ‘symphony’ with rich diversity of cultures, languages, religions etc.,.

Consul General Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad presented letters from Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi to Mr. Vivek Wadhwa and to Dr. Anurag Mairal of Stanford.

Mr. Clayton Stanger, Director of Office for Foreign Missions (OFM), Mr. Mark Chandler,   Director of San Francisco International Trade & Commerce and Ms. Meron Foster, Chief of Protocol in San Francisco’s Mayor’s office also graced the occasion. The City Hall was lit in tricolor marking the occasion.
