The Government of India, from time to time, has revoked the ban on several categories of visas for travel to India, which were earlier put in place due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The details of currently permitted categories are available at PERMITTED CATEGORIES FOR TRAVEL TO INDIA.

2. The Government of India has restored all existing visas, which had been suspended earlier, except electronic visa (e-Visa), Tourist Visa and Medical Visa. All those who hold such valid visas (other than e-Visa, Tourist visa and Medical) need not apply to the Consulate for revalidation of their existing visa.

3. Those foreign nationals who fall in the list of permitted categories for travel to India, but whose visa has expired may note the following:

a. Please visit https://indianvisaonline.gov.in and apply for REGULAR/PAPER VISA APPLICATION. Fill application, upload the photo, submit the application and take the printout of the visa application.

b. Thereafter, send the following physical documents along with original US passport & Visa application with a self-addressed return shipping prepaid envelope (not FedEx) to the attention of Visa section at -540 Arguello Blvd, San Francisco-94118: 

(i) Copy of address proof;

(ii) Copy of Birth Certificate of the child (if applicable).

(iii) Marriage Certificate (if applicable)

(iv) Copy of passport and OCI/Existing visa (if any of your and spouse or parents);

(v) Notarized Parental authorization form, duly signed by both the parents, with copies of their passports (only for minors). Please note that in case of minor is not able to sign or put thumb impression on the visa application form, then either of the parents or both of them can sign the minors visa application. Unsigned application is liable to be rejected.

(vi) Supporting documents for reason of travel (death certificate or doctors/hospital certificate).

(vii) Visa fees (for entry visa) of US$103.00 in two money order/cashier’s check: (i) US$100 and (ii) US$3.00 in favor of Consulate General of India San Francisco. Please note that personal checks will not be accepted.

(viii) One passport size photograph

(ix) Copy of Renunciation certificate if the previous nationality is Indian (if you have not applied for renunciation so far please visit- https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/apply-for-renunciation, and apply for the same).

Note - Visa application will be rejected if it is incomplete, unsigned & if photo is not uploaded.
