  • Currently WALK-IN services are SUSPENDED. Please send requisite document by mail along with all supporting documents (notarized copies of passport/legal status/address proof) and return shipping envelope. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL PASSPORT.      
  • The Consulate reserves the right to reject attestation of documents the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules. 
  • The Consulate does not attest any document issued by authorities in India. If any document issued by authorities in India (such as birth and death certificates, affidavits, diplomas, marriage certificate and educational certificates issued by authorities in India ) are required to be presented to authorities in USA, these should be apostilled in India. ICWF charges for miscellaneous services would be $2.00 per application instead of $3.00 w.e.f. September 01, 2017 (This amount may be included in the same cheque as the fees.)


POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (PCC) INDIAN NATIONALS

Please register and fill out online PCC application at at https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html  .  While filling up the application, applicants must provide their Indian Address including name of the concerned Police Station, enabling the police authorities to verify their antecedents. After filling the online application, applicants may take a printout and complete the set enclosing the supporting documents listed below. Applicants may send their complete documents by mail/post.

  1. Print-out of online PCC application
  2. Notarized copy of passport
  3. Notarized copy of valid visa status
  4. Proof of address
  5. One color passport size photograph
  6. Prepaid Express return envelope (USPS 'Express Mail' or UPS only) (No Fedex) with a tracking number, which applicants may note for tracking return mails
  7. Fee and Contribution** to be drawn as separate Money Orders/Cashiers’ Cheque in favor of Consulate General of India, San Francisco

**Fee for applicants holding passports issued by Consulate General of India, San Francisco: $25 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community welfare Fund (ICWF)

**Fee for applicants holding passports issued in RPOs and other Indian Embassy/ High Commission/Consulates: $40 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community welfare Fund (ICWF)

Note: NO BLANK CHECK/MONEY ORDER WILL BE ACCEPTED BY THE CONSULATE. Cash, Personal Cheques, Credit Cards, Debit Cards or other banking instruments are not accepted.

PCCs, as per the current government of India guidelines, would be issued only after clearances from the respective Police authorities in India. Therefore, applicants may please note that there could be delay, which is beyond Consulate’s control, for issuance of PCC.

Please note that the normal processing time for PCC services is 35 business days.

POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (PCC) FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS:

Applicants with foreign passports (other than Indian passport) applying for PCC may provide complete details of their stay in India, including date/month/year of their stay with complete residential/official addresses.

How to Apply:

1.

Download the Miscellaneous Application form and fill it up carefully. Each applicant is required to fill up separate Miscellaneous Application form and affix his/her photograph on the same.

2.

Notarized copy of passport. Notarized copy of the document showing valid US STAY PERMITS (for non-US nationals).

3.

Notarized copy of any of the following documents as proof of residence: US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card, or Mortgage Deed.

4.

Prepaid Express return envelope (USPS 'Express Mail' or UPS only) (No Fedex) with a tracking number, which applicants may note for tracking return mails.

5.

Fee:  A non-refundable fee of $40.00 (Forty) and an additional fee of US$2.00 (Two) to be added towards Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) per application. The fees may be paid through money order/cashiers’ cheque only, drawn separately towards fee and ICWF, in favor of Consulate General of India, San Francisco.

Normal processing time for PCC services is 15 business days.
